A rule is one of a set of explicit or understood regulations or principles governing one’s conduct. Thus, an Intervention Think Rule is intended to have a regulatory influence on an interventionist’s thinking and interaction strategies with others as they work together to help students improve. Stephen Elliott has developed 25 rules for guiding intervention thinking. These rules represent three domains: positive solution mind-set, assessment for intervention, and intervention design imperatives. This session presents a selection of key Think Rules and their applications to designing, implementing, or evaluating social behavior interventions for children.
