    This presentation will address the impact of early adversity, particularly trauma, on young children, including developmental, educational, and mental health consequences. Interventions and strategies that promote positive outcomes for these children will be explored, emphasizing the role of early childhood education. The presentation will include a lecture and video.

    Learner Objectives
    This session will help participants…

    1. understand the developmental, educational, and mental health consequences for children exposed to early adversity, particularly trauma and its associated behavior problems in young children.
    2. understand research-based strategies and evidence-based interventions to promote the well-being of young children exposed to adversity, emphasizing the role of early care and education.
    3. increase their knowledge about the epidemiology of early adversity, with a focus on children from impoverished and/or racial–ethnic minority families.
    1.25 Documented CPD Credits/Hours   NASP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NASP maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
