Building Behavioral Intervention Programs to Meet Varied Student Needs - DS004
Through lecture and application activities, participants in this session will examine ways to build layers of interventions to meet needs of students with externalizing and internalizing behaviors of concern.
Learner Objectives
This session will help participants:
identify a variety of interventions to support the varied needs of individuals who require behavior support, especially focusing on meeting the needs of historically marginalized students such as students with disabilities, Black and Indigenous students, and LGBTQ+ students,
implement a Meaningful Work program/intervention to provide students with a sense of belonging, competence, and purpose at school;
learn how to match students with a school-based job that will meet other needs such as attention, stimulation, or change, and interests or strengths; and
identify qualities and skills necessary for anyone who serves as an intervention supervisor and coordinator, as well as concrete steps interventionists should follow when guiding an intervention plan, such as enrolling the student, setting goals and data-collection planning, and making decisions to continue, intensify, or fade an intervention plan.
