School psychologists often feel ill-prepared to address writing difficulties. Yet, writing instruction has the power to accelerate writing achievement as well as reading decoding for students with dyslexia and to increase science achievement for students to have successful careers in STEM. Improved instruction in writing can also lead to more equitable opportunities for marginalized groups. This webinar will present new research on how school psychologists can interpret writing data in their evaluations and, in turn, make more effective instructional recommendations.

    Learner Objectives

    This session will help participants:
    1. Understand the development of writing the three levels of language (word, sentence, and discourse).
    2. Use new curriculum-based measurement metrics for writing that predict state test proficiency.
    3. Identify research-based instructional practices that have an impact on each level of language.
