    This Documented Session invites school psychologists to learn about who their LGBTQ+ students are and how to support them. The session includes psychoeducational lecture, self-reflective activities, modeling of skills, and Q&As. This session is sponsored by the Convention Committee.

    Learner Objectives:

    This session will help participants:

    1.   develop their multicultural competence and humility in understanding the stressors LGBTQ+ youth face that warrants their need for culture-responsive support in schools;

    2. learn how to actively support LGBTQ+ youth through direct and indirect behaviors, regardless of the legal limits imposed at a regional and national level; and
    3. develop their understanding of what it means to support LGBTQ+ youth by supporting youth directly, engaging with their families/guardians, connecting youth with community resources, and learning how to work within the legal limits that may be imposed at a regional level.
