    Depression among youth is an increasingly important concern. This workshop will review the cognitive–behavioral therapy (CBT) treatment protocol developed for the Treatment for Adolescents with Depression Study. Using lectures and role-playing, the session will present a range of cognitive and behavioral assessment and treatment strategies. The goals will be practical—to provide cutting-edge, empirically supported CBT treatment strategies for depressed youth and to familiarize participants with the empirical evidence in support of the treatments’ utility.

    Learner Objectives:
    This session will help participants:
    1. discuss developmental, social, and cognitive factors contributing to depression among youth;
    2. list cognitive and behavioral strategies for assisting depressed youth; and
    3. discuss predictors of treatment response, including the impact of cultural and socioeconomic factors on mood.
