    Developing a computerized adaptive test is difficult and time-consuming. The slide presentation and demonstrations introduce a computer program that frees test developers from a need for programmers. An adaptive test “shell” is filled with the pool of test items and scoring protocols. Participants will learn the procedure for obtaining the noncommercial software. This session is sponsored by the Convention Committee.

    Learner Objectives:
    This session will help participants
    1. describe the utility and some applications of adaptive testing, with a focus on research and applied measurement;
    2. obtain a basic understanding of how the test development is used, with examples of adaptive tests that have been developed using the program; and
    3. identify the requirements and procedures for requesting the noncommercial program for research and test development purposes.
