Students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have complex needs, and there are more evidence-based practices than ever to meet those needs. However, sometimes it can seem as though education was not created with students with ASD in mind. Learn how consultation can be wisely adapted to provide appropriate, on-time services to students with ASD, both within and outside of special education. Activities will include lecture, case study, and discussion.

    Learner Objectives:
    This workshop will help participants
    1. identify evidence-based consultation practices for students with ASD,
    2. adapt consultation procedures to meet student needs and team goals,
    3. apply a hybrid model of school-based consultation to the needs of students with ASD, and
    4. consider how features of cultural diversity affect student needs and response to consultation-based services.
