    Despite the long-standing popularity of cognitive profile analysis methods in school psychology training and practice, numerous empirical studies have questioned their clinical utility. This session will review these new and continued concerns through lecture and case studies. Implications for evidence-based assessment in school psychology will also be discussed. 

    Learner Objectives:
    This session will help participants
     
    1. become (re)acquainted with a body of empirical literature that has raised concerns about the utility of cognitive profile analysis methods for well over 30 years;
    2. understand the principles of evidence-based assessment and their applicability for school psychology practice; and
    3. better evaluate which assessment methods are most useful for conducting equitable evaluations for all children in schools.

    1.5 Documented CPD Credits/Hours   NASP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NASP maintains responsibility for this program and its content. NASP is a Washington Clock Hours Approved Provider.
