    Schools that espouse a whole child approach acknowledge the interconnection between students’ academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being and strive to integrate supports across these domains of development and functioning. This documented session will discuss the why (rationale and evidence supporting), what (specific prevention, intervention, and assessment practices), and how (methods for integrating and strategically implementing such an approach) of a whole child approach. The session will use a combination of engaging lecture, videos, and interactive opportunities to reflect on and discuss key ideas.
    Learner Objectives:
    This session will help participants
    1. understand and explain why a whole child approach is needed to enhance student outcomes across academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical domains of development and functioning;
    2. describe specific evidence-based prevention, intervention, and assessment practices that can be adopted and integrated to advance a whole child approach; and
    3. understand and describe how efforts to reduce discrimination and improve cultural responsiveness and equity are part of a whole child approach.
    1.25 Documented CPD Credits/Hours   NASP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NASP maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
