DS003: Next Steps: Preparing Our Students for Postsecondary Opportunities
Learn strategies for supporting students and their families for preparing for postsecondary transition and opportunities through scenarios, tools to support the work, and legislation for support in the postsecondary setting.This session is sponsored by the Convention Committee.
Learner Objectives:
This session will help participants:
learn the difference between K–12 (IDEA) supports and Section 504 in postsecondary settings;
learn strategies and free resources for schools and families to implement to better prepare students with disabilities for this transition; and
understand how to support the autonomy and dignity of the individual with a disability while avoiding ableism and prohibiting their ability to self-advocate.
1.25 Documented CPD/CE Credits/Hours NASP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NASP maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
