Everything You Need to Know About Psychiatric Medications
Participants will learn about the psychiatric medicines most commonly prescribed to youth, especially the stimulants and other medicines for ADHD and the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRls) for depression and anxiety disorders. The mood stabilizers for bipolar disorder, sleep medicines, and atypical antipsychotics will also be reviewed. Participants will learn about psychopharmacological treatments, especially the benefits and side effects of each class of medicine.
Learner Objectives: This workshop will help participants
learn the risks and benefits of the ADHD medicines,
learn the risks and benefits of medicines used to treat anxiety and depression, and
understand some of the controversies surrounding the use of psychiatric medicines in children and adolescents.
3 Documented CPD Credits/Hours NASP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NASP maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
